This is for better searching because the hive doesn't search by map name, or use the key words section to find maps. Trust me, i didn't do this to be stupid.
I talked to Rallè about it.. It works on word ratio.

Relevancy Factor=5.65 without this.
Relevancy Factor=10.78 with this.

•Harry Potter Wizard Wars (Masters of Magic)
In this game you cast spells to slay your enemies, normal WC attacking is not extremely useful in this game. It's all about Microing well! If you cast Avada Kadavera, the minister of magic will be angry and hunt you down and send Dementors!
Creatures are in the corners with various side missions to gain some experience and added gold, but are very DIFFICULT to slay alone, go with a team of players.
This is a Multilayer game only AI is pointless in this game type and wouldn't be much of a challenge.

In the first 15 seconds, The Host will specify the win requirement of 40/60/80/100/150 or 200 kills.. Players: Let Host know what the majority wants to play. Right Away!

Agility gives +2 movement each point, and str. and int. give 15 hp/mana and 0.1 regeneration.
Each pt. of your primary attribute gives 0.5 damage.

Map is Optimized

Help Description:
  • The minister of magic will come after you, if you use the Torture curse, the mind control curse, or the killing curse!
  • The 4 corners of the map have missions to fight, (if you die on them it doesn't subtract 1 gold from you, but it still adds a death to your team.)
  • Get gold by killing anything not on your team except the Ministry of Magic guy in middle.
  • If a player kills an enemy unit while their under the affects of PolyJuice potion, point goes to the killed units team.
  • There are 4 stores with good equipment to buy.
  • The cloak is click-able and can be used to turn fully invisible.
  • To find someone invisible you can buy Owls, the Spell book, Marauder's Map, and Crystal ball..
  • Control your hero with hot-keys for fast spell casting combo's Q, W, E, R, T, F are the normal hero spells, also extra spells in spell book.
  • If you don't think you like this game yet.. Stay and give it a chance! It gets sweet in full house and even more fun late game..

- fixed dueling in alot of ways. major need fix
- and auto re-spawn fix as well. all should work perfect now

This is a Harry Potter map obviously if you read the description and its a lot of fun for full out wars/duels, try it out and see for yourself :)

I started this map.. i dont know probably 2007-ish and just dinked around with it from time to time since then. Its gotten pretty good since then as i learned a good amount more but haven't really added a whole lot since then yet.. Its still in early progress..

Was never a Hive member so i never posted my maps here but im seeing its a good site now lol

This map is more so for the fun game-play not as much the terrain, just gonna through that out there ahead of time lol

Didnt bother with AI so play with a full house of people xD

I'm sorry i was still fixing it and uploading the description a few times while you were checking it out.. I think it should all be good now..

Edit: Its kind of hard to play and get a feel for how fun the game play is without a full house..

I'm sorry but 6th screen shot is fail, Order of the Phoenix using one of the 3 never to be
used spell... That's not good, I think it'd have been fun to see more of a defensive style
for the phoenix and aggressive one for the other team.
Though, I'm saying all that without playing it, I'm just seeing the SS. Looks cool but it is
not too much my type of game.

Yeah, i know they try and go out of their way not to use that curse but you have to think about it this way..
1. there's really not a lot of good spells in harry potter to make a good battle game from, that spell is one of the few good ones..
2. If i didn't give the option to use it to both sides the game wouldn't be very balanced..

Edit: 24 downloads and 3 replies..? Common Hive.. lol

bond, who says? the never to be used spells could be subsituted with some other spells... such as the disarm spell which nearly killed the good 'ol you-know-who.

gameplay was even boring in fh. those newbs would ask how to play and i have to repeat 10~20x and some still quitted saying this was a boring game.

add a tut pls.

Good job on that description, as your fairly new to THW that's very rare that you made such a good description. 80+% of new users upload maps with shit descriptions, So thank you for making my job easier :)

Anyways, I like the concept, but I didn't play as I am very busy and am procrastinating work as I type.

Terrain outside could use a lot more tile variation though. I also didn't see very many environmental doodads out there.

I may come back to this and give it a full review soon :p

My review of Harry Potter Wiz Wars M.o.M 2.60

Description [7/10]

The description is good for a beginner.

Creativity [11/15]

The map is creative as there is not much harry potter maps out there. You have added your own touch to it, which makes it really creative.

Triggering [11/15]

Your spells were great. The music selection board was great too. However, the hero needs to be revived manually.

Playability [1/5]

It starts to get really boring in a short while.

Object managing [2/10]

There is only some imported music and you should have really imported some more such as models.

Terrain [6/15]

Terrain was bland and dull. Add more doodads.

personal comment:

Although im a big harry potter fan but i do not like this map very much. Try to improve more on it.

Overall = 7 + 11 + 11 + 1 + 2 + 6 = 38/70 (3/5 rating with approve and no rep)

Final rating: 38/70 (3/5 map rating + approve + no rep)

@ACdestinydream
The disarm spell is already in there, both sides have it, you cant compare a game to a movie lol. The only reason you know who almost died from it is because of his mom magic spell over it or something to that extent..lol
I mean you know as well as i do Disarm spell in wc3 is pretty much gonna be silence..

If my description was a 7 for you i would like a link to a 10 by your standards, maybe theres room to improve.. lol
for the next 2, 11/15 isnt that great..
Its about as creative as i could get with a harry potter hero arena.. its all hot keyed Q, W, E, R, T, F and then random for spell book spells, this use to be pretty big back in the day and it got fun as noobs learned how to play, but i agree at first playing with noobs its dull till later in game. How many kills did you have it set too? Think i should up the xp% rate so its more fast passe and doesnt get dull?

As for triggering, theres a few things in here somewhat complicated like the Imperio curse controlling unit/heros etc without having it glitch and not having the hero return if more than 1 player uses the spell on the same hero in a row. The -duel system and Polly-juice potion is pretty complex as well, did you try that stuff out? Other than that nothing real super crazy.. and all the triggers are very efficient with no leaks
But i dont think you looked through the description enough or Info (F9) because there's a -auto spawn command for ppl that like that and dont like to manually revive. I dont have it auto set that way because sometimes players like to set rally points or dont want their hero to auto re-spawn etc..

For Object managing thats pretty hard to call from 1 game with a bunch of nubs lol Game experience is all who your playing with and against.. crappy players = crappy experience/game

The rest i cant really rebuttal as i tend to agree as far as terrain..lol

I thought this would be enough for people as a help description also
Help Description:
- The minister of magic will come after you, if you use the Torture curse, the mind control curse, or the killing curse!
- The 4 corners of the map have missions to fight, (if you die on them it doesn't subtract 1 gold from you, but it still adds a death to your team.)
- Get gold by killing anything not on your team except the Ministry of Magic guy in middle.
- If a player kills an enemy unit while their under the affects of PolyJuice potion, point goes to the killed units team.
- There are 4 stores with good equipment to buy.
- The cloak is click-able and can be used to turn fully invisible.
- To find someone invisible you can buy Owls, the Spell book, Marauder's Map, and Crystal ball..
- Control your hero with hotkeys for fast spell casting combo's Q, W, E, R, T, F are the normal hero spells, also extra spells in spell book.
- If you don't think you like this game yet.. Stay and give it a chance! It gets sweet in full house and even more fun late game..

Really thought i did a good job on description.. :/

you should be happy you got a 7. 7 because u added too much info. hide some of them in tables or in boxes to let us read it easier.

11 because i dont see multiboard. You need a multiboard to track each player's kills.

its not about the xp rate, its about the events. Having a MoM in the middle targeting those who did not use the spell really sets the game back.

game experience is about how fast the noobs turn to pros and play it the pro way. some maps are so good that the noobs take less than 10 minutes to totally understand the map.

http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/maps-564/against-darkness-2-95-a-79982/?prev=mmr=6

this map have what i called 8~9 standard of description. it have everything yet everything is short and sweet. Yours is a block of text which is hardly readable.

Yeah i figured having more vs not enough info on it was the way to go.. lol i'll fix it up.

yeah i guess a multi board in this game type wouldnt be bad.. not a bad idea

The guy in the middle only goes to attack the last person who used 1 of the 3 forbidden spells, and then send dementors out that will go anyone in area, or that attack them.. and that gets ignored when 1v1 ppl are in a duel.

anyone thats played wc3 before and know about hotkeys should be able to master this in 5 mins lol

Thanks over all for the pointers though always room to improve ^^

Edit: looks better now :)

Mind rating this game for me too :)
http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/maps-564/world-war-iii-b-v3-47a-world-168954/

Its pretty trigger intensive, pretty complicated stuff in it, you'll see it all if you look deep into stuff

Maps like these get a ridiculous amount of units and can sometimes start to lag in late game so i didn't dress the land up with a stupid amount of doodads, so dont judge the land retraining harshly.

Also one bit of advice

Description [10]
Creativity [15]
Triggering [15]
Playability [5]
Object Managing [10]
Terrain [15]

To give a rating weight of 10 with a Hive Description when your grading a Map is kind of outrageous when you think about it. A Map is a stand alone entity and by itself has nothing really to do with the Hive aside hosting it for people. Maybe make it 5 or something. That or make Playability even with it at 10 lol

ps. I'm not trying to be rude or anything, this has nothing to do with my game, i think my description is good and all but i just got thinking about it, thought i'd run it by you and see what you thought.

I'm going to have to disagree with several points in ACdestinydream's review.
I am not biased towards either person, I just felt his review was unfair or vague in certain aspects, which is never good for a review.

First,
The map is creative as there is not much harry potter maps out there. You have added your own touch to it, which makes it really creative.
If it is really creative, then how did it only get an 11/15 ? If you're going to say it's really creative then give it a higher score.

Your spells were great. The music selection board was great too. However, the hero needs to be revived manually.
Does any of this belong in a category called triggering? Should be in spells, and systems. The triggers for the spells could leak 10 times per cast for all either of us know. Furthermore, if this belonged here, then the fact that there was one negative point, caused a 4 point subtraction? I'd say that overall if it did belong there it should be a 2 point subtraction.

There is only some imported music and you should have really imported some more such as models.
This was a game designed very obviously for BNet, and LAN play, if he imported much more it'd take 50% of the users on either of those at least 2 minutes to download. Which is bad.

It starts to get really boring in a short while.
While I agree it could, if you played with 4 or less people, I got a group of 7 friends and we played 4 games. I only stopped the testing, because I have more things to do.
By my standard I always play with at least 75% of a Full House amount of players. so 12 players should have 8 testers. 10 should have 4 testers, and so on, or you really can't say if it was boring. Maybe you did test with a bunch of people, but I doubt it, as the number 1 mistake made by map testers is that one right there. Don't put in a playability score if you haven't really played it fully. As I said though, you might have and just not liked it.

All points that you mentioned and I did not mention, I agree with 100%. This map needs some more work, but it shows very much promise.

CWeener's Review {Protected maps} V2.98 Review # 16

Reviewing the map "Harry Potter Wiz Wars M.o.M. 2.60"

Rating System (in weener points:)

1-10 Originality
1-10 Replayability (discounted for cinematics*)
1-10 Triggering (discounted for protected maps*)
1-10 Terraining
1-10 Object Managing (custom items and destructibles etc...)
1-10 Spells (if applies**)
1-10 Description (On THW and In-game (Loading Screen and information))
1-15 Engaging a.k.a. fun to play
1-15 Misc (size, system implementation, laginess etc...)
-100 or +100 for abiding by THW rules.
* = when one is discounted then other sections maximums are raised, and those sections are judged harder (if your map applies then it will show you what i raised later)
** = some maps dont really need spells so this section is discounted and given an automatic 10.
Rating System Scores

Less than 100 = FF- (Reported, You clearly didnt abide by all of the posting rules, and i have reported you for (not) doing so.)
100-150 Points = F- (Rancid and Needs major work. Vote for Rejection and no +rep.)
151-160 Points = F (Bad and Needs work. vote for Rejection and no +rep.)
161-170 Points = D (Below Average and Needs much updating. has potential. vote for rejection and no +rep.)
171-180 Points = C (Okay but Needs updates. has potential. vote for rejection* and no +rep.)
181-190 Points = B (Good but still not reaching full potential vote for approval but no +rep)
191-199 Points = A (Great and probably has reached full potential**. good job. vote for approval and +rep.)
200 Points = A+ (Amazing, you did everything right and went all out, approval and +rep)

* = depending on the map really, and what categories it scored low in
** = not always but most cases.
Harry Potter Wiz Wars M.o.M. 2.60

Triggering scores not available, so other maximums were raised(see rating system*)

1-11 Originality *10* while this map has unique aspects, it's main concept has been done on rare occasions.
1-11 Replayability *9* Fairly fun with friends for a few plays or even more, depending on your likes.
1-11 Terraining *4* This seems to always be what hurts you >.< Doodads should be added. Tiles should be added. Tiles should have more vafriation, but the variation inside looks nice. Height toold needs to be used more.
1-11 Object Managing *9* All tooltips are accurate, and give good info about the spells. Although maybe more "wizards" wouldn't hurt.
1-11 Spells *11* This was nice. Spells just like in the movie, meaning they can miss and such, good job.
1-11 Description *11* Goo job on making easier to read.
1-17 Engaging *15* I liked that it requires you to be constantly moving to dodge spells, that engaged you even further.
1-17 Misc *16* All in all, all systems seemed functioning, Everything seemed well made. Size was ehh... Music was nice, but probably took alot of space. My guess would be 900+KB. (roughly).
-100 or 100 Rules *100*
0-200 All-in-all *185* B (Good but still not reaching full potential vote for approval and +rep was given)

Author's Note,

I liked this map, but not Harry Potter maps in general. So good job :p You should see terraing tutorials though. Or at least add doodads. Some is better than none >.>
Bugs:
Nothing that I could see.

Recommendations:
Add more doodads
Add more height variation
Get WEU, then add more tiles.
Also, one thing I didn't mention, is the towers(where you create heroes) should be scaled down a bit.

[liked]

Music sound
Spells
The overall gameplay
AI :p

[didn't like]
The terrain. :/

I am not biased towards either person, I just felt his review was unfair or vague in certain aspects, which is never good for a review.

lets see what u meant by vague then.

First,
If it is really creative, then how did it only get an 11/15 ? If you're going to say it's really creative then give it a higher score.

its really creative so it got a 11. but there are tons of projectile-fun-wars maps outside so it falls under the wrong category.

Furthermore, if this belonged here, then the fact that there was one negative point, caused a 4 point subtraction? I'd say that overall if it did belong there it should be a 2 point subtraction.

did u ever fully test the map? i did not give an in depth one because i did not have time, but i can give you an essay of why his triggering got such a low marks. why isnt spells under triggering? SPELLS ARE TRIGGERED. Tell me a spell that is custom yet not triggered.

This was a game designed very obviously for BNet, and LAN play, if he imported much more it'd take 50% of the users on either of those at least 2 minutes to download. Which is bad.

what you are saying is that you are passing 90% of the rejected maps in hive. Designed very obviously for bnet. He should make it look better, with harry potter models and even a dumbledore, but look what he got? good team have all the same models while the bad ones have all different models? what is he trying to even do?

While I agree it could, if you played with 4 or less people, I got a group of 7 friends and we played 4 games. I only stopped the testing, because I have more things to do.

As I said though, you might have and just not liked it.

i always played full house in garena. No matter what boring maps it must have a full house in my point of view. Dude, im a big time harry potter fan. I didnt like it because it doesnt even cut off for a average map. No loadig screen, no minimap preview, IMPORTED MODELS which these kinds of maps must have.

All points that you mentioned and I did not mention, I agree with 100%. This map needs some more work, but it shows very much promise.

agreed.

I recommend hidden tags for your next disagreements, for the sake of everybody not in this argument :)

I did not get this post, maybe due to a language barrier of some sort.

I never said spells are not triggered. All I implied is that you should not have a category called triggering in a review of a protected map that you can not check the ACTUAL TRIGGERS. The spells are spells and should (in a protected map) be judged for creativity, and eye candy, not for the triggering behind the spells that you can NOT see. Give me that essay. You can not judge his actual triggers, so your essay would be invalid.

I never said his model choice was good. I did not say if I liked or disliked his model choice. I simply said that if he had a custom model for every unit, it would take up massive amounts of space and that would cause a slow Download time for BNEt users.

As I said, I could have been wrong and you might just not of liked the map. I just strongly disagree with the reasoning behind imported models. Although a loading screen wouldn't hurt if it were < 500 KB. Same goes for the minimap preview.

Anyways, I feel I should say that don't take any of my opinions personally.

guess what- ima rebutt u! =D

I did not get this post, maybe due to a language barrier of some sort.

it means like those archer wars legacy maps. where they shoot things out to kill people.

multiboards are triggers, quests are triggers, spells are triggered, sp why not? u can judge a spells' lag by turning on maplestory while playing wc3, this is a hidden technique i found out. it can 'measure' how much leaks a spell have. if it lags alot, it means it is full of leaks.

I never said his model choice was good. I did not say if I liked or disliked his model choice. I simply said that if he had a custom model for every unit, it would take up massive amounts of space and that would cause a slow Download time for BNEt users.

this should not be his worry, because in hive its all about how nice it looks and how good it runs.

As I said, I could have been wrong and you might just not of liked the map. I just strongly disagree with the reasoning behind imported models. Although a loading screen wouldn't hurt if it were < 500 KB. Same goes for the minimap preview.

i disagree with your views too.

Anyways, I feel I should say that don't take any of my opinions personally.

same here.

I literally laughed when I read this.
Worst way to detect leaks that I've ever heard of.
get in game and type /fps
then watch it for like 15 seconds, lets say average is about 68 (that's mine)
Cast a spell a bunch of times, and watch your fps again.
If average is now say, 66 then the spell probably leaks.

lmao like.. did you even download and test it? how could you miss the loading screen..? you gotta be kidding me..
And yes it would be nice to have some real models perhaps.. but here check this out:
http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/models.php?search=harry potter&d=list&r=20
Its a search here at the hive under models for "harry potter" Nothing came up, i'm a mapper not a model maker lol

But i dont think you looked through the description enough or Info (F9) because there's a -auto spawn command for ppl that like that and dont like to manually revive. I dont have it auto set that way because sometimes players like to set rally points or dont want their hero to auto re-spawn etc..

If your trigger savvy then you can get an idea of how intense a trigger might be by using the spell.
When i test a game and use something that does something triggered and neat, Such as my mind control spell. i know right away what it must consist of in my head the moment i use it. As for leaks i assure you i have none, all points, playerGroups UnitGroups temp_specialeffects etc, all taken care off. Im no noob xD

Also if you read my above Quote in an earlier post you would KNOW, there is in fact a auto revive for heros, you Don't need to manually revive each time if you do not want too..

And for terrain honestly i agree with you both.. lol i got lazy on that part.. i enjoy triggering a great deal more..

Also i took your guys advice and fixed the description up a bit last time i think its pretty easy on the eyes now :)

bond, i forgot to say this but i gave a map 10 for description because:

1. a good map have a good description. Any map maker who is lazy to make good map description would most likely make crap maps too.

2. it shortens the time needed for people to understand a game. a map without description would be like killing all those who plays it.

I know you want this approved.
but, you need more doodads in the terrain, both outside and inside.
Maybe more tile variation as well.

Needs Fix.
Well -Kobas- is here to help dude in time of great need ^^

Give me some time to finish terrain for Septimus (damn he will kill me -.-)
This come right after ^^

I really like this game, I can hide and ambush people any time. But one of the problems I had with it is the large file size, it is difficult to get a full house when every body has to wait for the map to download.
