Toribash

quoted from the official site:
"Toribash is an innovative fighting game based on the physics sandbox model where YOU design the moves! Join us today, and put your skills against other players all over the world.

Earn Toricredits by winning matches, then customize your character in the store! Trade items with other players. Win prizes in weekly tournaments. Climb the rankings. Earn your own Black belt. Better still: be one of the few who make it to 10th Dan!

Toribash is Addictive! Try Wushu, Sumo, Kick Boxing, Sambo, Swords, Judo and more. Create fighting movies and post them on YouTube. Watch other players fight. Chat with them. Defeat them!

Most of all: IT'S FREEWARE!"

It's a really fun game but has a really steep learning curve. It takes years to be actually consistently good at the game! By moving joints, you can make your own awesome moves! Here are some videos about it:

The singleplayer and multiplayer aspects of the game are very different. In SP, you have free control over the duration of each turn, allowing for more varied and freeform movements. In MP, the turns are directed by each mod, and the gameplay is more focused on competitive gameplay.
What do you think?

it's actually really hard to do what the toris do in the video, takes months or probably even years of practice to make stuff like that. in multiplayer it's generally much harder to dismember your opponent due to the mod settings and a bigger time window between turns, but in some mods, merely touching the opponent instagibs a joint.

the game has been like this since its creation, and there's stuff like clan wars that shows that some mods can be used as competitive environment.

Seeing how people think Pokémon is competitive it is possible everything can be taken competitively. If it ever becomes truly competitive (E-sport status) that is a completely different question.

i've always thought of competitive environments in games like this and Pokemon as more on friendly fights, and yeah, indeed, e-sports are way out of the board, especially for slow-paced and turn-based games.
