Grrrr... Virgin Media Anyone?
Does anyone else use Virgin Media as their ISP?
If so, do you find yourself unable to host large maps because they cap your "10mb" broadband at aout 512kb between 3pm - 10pm? (aka normal usage times) which pretty much gives you the upload speed of a peanut :P
What i mean to say is... virgin media can kiss my bum goodbye as soon as my contract runs out xD
So... anyone have the same problem? :D

Yeah Virgin aren't the best corporation, but they're all pretty bad. If you don't get downtime, then you get throttled service.
For example, here in Canada, Rogers throttles the hell out of torrents. That means that all torrents, legal or not, get retardedly low speeds, much lower than I get with direct download or ftp. The same is true for the United States with Comcast users.
There's always something these ISPs screw you over with.

Torrents screw up the block-level routers, can't blame the ISPs there. You're doing things your internet plan is not really meant for.

Yeah, only 60 Gb of bandwidth, clearly not created with torrents in mind >.>

Verizon actually isn't that bad, which is quite nice. Oh, except for xbox live. It fucks up xbox live pretty bad.

Actually, sadly enough, Comcast was the best internet/cable provider I've seen.
Adelphi in Pennsylvania screwed their customers over, and Cox (in the South where I am now) sucks.
Seriously, I never thought there would be a company that makes Comcast look good, but Cox did it.
Anyway, sorry for the off-topic, it had to be said though.

Same with me and Rogers. Rogers gives me great speeds, above what I'm rated for in the advertisements, but then they go and throttle torrents to death. And since Rogers hasn't ever carried Usenet, newsgroups were out too, even though they are for just about everyone now.

You want a joke for an ISP? Get Qwest which has the motto "Spirit of service". Spirit of SHIT is more appropriate. We were getting about 56k 90% of the time when they said the service was 1.5 MB. We called them NO JOKE 8 times and they always did the same damn thing. A speed test, and a ping test. Everytime the speedtest and ping test said it was running fast, but if you tried to DL anything about 10 MB, it would take you over an hour. Also, every time we called, we'd get somebody from india on the other end. They outsource all their calls to INDIA! They would never send a repairman or anything to check out the problem. Every time just damn speed tests. The worst service I've ever had in my life!
