How will this thing handle things like Team colour and starting locations, or must the maps be made solely for things so that they can function properly? And what about teams, as in someone could make an RPG where 2 sides fight eachother, how will the teams be decided?

Since WarSoc maps will be Single Player (as far as Warcraft is concerned at least), the players will be your forces.
So, for example, your own units will always be Player 1 (red) on your own PC, all your enemies will belong to Player 2 (blue) and all your allies will be Player 3 (teal).
