Opera - Beautiful or Gay?
Hello guys (and girls).
I just wonder, what are you guys opinion on the music type Opera, many people dislike this type of music, and consider it "gay" and not a "cool" music type like Rock or so. Personally, I am very fond of opera music, it is both beautiful and it calms my senses, the "recent" death of Pavarotti was a disaster to me, but there are other to walk in his steps, we have for example the "young" enthusiastic Paul Potts. Anyways, people in my age usually don't listen to opera so I dont really have anyone to discuss it with, so I turn to you, fellow members of the Hive.
So, opinions?

By Pavarotti and Paul Potts, I'm almost certain you mean opera.
Anyways, I don't consider any musical genre to be necessarily bad. Sure, there is some music I could find annoying or boring, but I believe music, like all other art forms, is greatly dependent on personal preference, which is rather funny, considering the large amount of people that are willing to think less of you depending on your musical tastes.
I play in a particularly prestigious high school orchestra, so I've been taught to appreciate the intricacies of orchestral and opera music, but that would be limited to a piece or two. I find the music to be rather boring myself, though that opinion changes entirely when you're in an actual orchestra playing.
Also, the only music I would find "gay" would be from the Village People, but that's just me.

Dudes. Opera is not gay/bad/whatever, it is just that it is sort of "outdated".

I think he didn't meant that, take another look at his post:

Yes, he used the right word. It is just "outdated", but whatever, just because it is old, it doesn't mean it is bad. For example, beer is an old tradition in the world, but no one is going to stop drinking it just because it is old...
But I prefer Mozart and Beethoven than opera.

Personally, i think Opera is grating on the ears and to warble-y for me.
I do not think it is gay, however, or even uncool. It is just annoying to the extreme.

I personally don't like opera, but it has nothing to do with being gay... or anything else, rather than someone who likes older music styles.
