Quoted because I was gonna say that.
Mostly, I think a lot of people are made even more stupid by their parenting instincts.

It was meant as a joke, partially. Also I doubted his parents would let him do anything, even within the bounds of reason that he probably meant.
Would his parents let him experiment with cocaine for example? Better example MSBB?

Actually, if you're dumb enough to jump off a bridge on purpose, your parents not caring is a rather mild case in comparison.

I would say they are roughly on par and linked. It's probably due to a lack of love that this metaphorical man jumped.

Yes, better.
But still, it's one thing to not let your children play video games, and another to go after the video game industry itself for not catering to your tastes.

Of course, but I was totally off-topic and not referring to the topic at hand at all.
I was raised with pretty limited video games and movies (good Catholic Family) and I would raise my kids the same. It didn't do me any harm not seeing violent movies, or playing violent games, and I don't think it helped any of my friends by playing them. I've rarely seen kids rebel against their parents for "sheltering" them and most of my friends were similar to me. I think this whole rebel thing is a myth.

Remember that documentary on when Amish kids that turn 13 (16? whenever) are allowed into the world with technology? Statistically, I believe a huge number of them do drugs, alcohol, etc. while they're out and then go back to being Amish. I'm not sure what anyone cares to make the point, but it's certainly relevant to the conversation.

Oh my.. makes me wonder.. what makes computer games more radical.. us or the mothers? XD
After reading the site. i was like geez! do those guys (ehh scratch that:) Mothers had any argument making lessons on school? it makes just no sense at all.
The site gives so much one-sided information, i could probably compare mein kampf with it.
Then it makes no sense almost every kid/teen plays video games. and only a non-significant part of that will show violent behaviour Mostly caused (if you ask me)by "trying to act cool guys" or complete outsiders.
Then they say that games are addicting, hmm yeah kinda everything is addicting. you can get addicted by playing games, drinking alcohol, smoking, drugs, watching tv, playing basketball (my occasion) or any other sport. heck you can even get addicted to thea or reading books. so hey! lets ban them all!

Fact: Publishers exploit cute, huggable and lovable franchises such as Pokemon and Splinter Cell, in hopes of hooking more potential gamers in today's youth. This is the same strategy practiced in the tobacco industry.
|
So.... they call out random popular video games with horribly ignorant, sweeping, retarded, or any combination of those 3 (with another 500 derogatory terms) and hope they'll get a smidgen of attention? The writer of that article has obviously never touched a video game since the days of Mr. Game and Watch.
I stopped reading after that.
And i Started again.
This proves that this site is a joke.

As for the ESRB rating, don't let that fool you. This game is not suitable for teenagers and should only be handled by mature adults. I believe the ESRB missed the mark on this one, which is very sad considering the fact that so many people will be buying this expansion when it is released.
If your child approaches you asking you to help them buy this piece of software, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT give in. You cannot afford to lose this battle, as your child's very life may depend upon it. The best response is to have a civilized conversation with them about the dangers of video games and offer alternatives. The best alternative that most children of this day and age will greatly enjoy is simply reading a good book.
This is a terrible trap developed by terrible, money-hungry people, and it is up to the parents and guardians to put an end to it. By your powers combined...

Oh well, let everyone have their rant forum/site somewere so they can vent out from time to time.. mothers too get frustrated and something is to blame..
So better ignore them and check everyone in a while to make sure they don't get destructive and blow things up

It's funny how these people say things like "video game addiction", when most of the people I know who play WoW at my school are football players, popular people, and the like.
