Meh, I'm Canadian, they wouldn't talk about our stock market if it crashed, so I feel obligated to do the same.

Yeah, Europe and especially the UK was hit nearly as hard as the US.
But, it's not that difficult. There are only 2 main things that need to be done: 1) Inspire investor confidence again and 2) Establish regulations so that this never happens again.
Canada, thankfully, already had regulations against subprime lending, etc, so if it wasn't for stupid ABCP, we'd be completely in the free. But Asset Backet Commercial Paper unwittingly put 32 billion Canadian dollars into subprime investments, so most of that money is gone.

My dad works in the securitization industry so he's getting hit pretty hard by all this. Apparently he gets governments asking for his advice :>
But yeah, shit's pretty much hitting the fan.

Canada is the shit, you should move. Hockey is also the shit. So are igloos and beavers (both kind).
I think the American Economy will be fine. Won't be where it was, and loans will probably be impossible to get, but it'll live.

Yeah that's the only other thing I'm worried about. Before they were giving out a mortgage to anyone with a name. You could buy a half million dollar house and you didn't even need to have a job.
Now I think they might overkill and make it too hard for honest people to take out a mortgage.
