Constitutional Laws?
I know there are many non-american users here, but I still want to hear your thoughts on this issue. Myself, I don't feel comfortable with modern-day laws being based around something written almost 250 years ago. Stuff like that just can't happen these days since technology and culture is progressing so quickly.
So, what do you think? Should all, some, most, a little bit, none, or how much of the US constitution be rewritten to fit modern-day society?

Probably, although I doubt I'll like what most people want written in there.

Most of the basic amendments are pretty general, such as freedom of speech and the press, however, some like the right to bear arms (which was written to prevent the redcoats from attacking) aren't really important anymore.

Yeah, the right to not quarter troops is not really important anymore either.

There is more to it than that though.

**off-topic** This statement confuses me. Your talking about non-americans, so it sounds like dealing with stuff that affects them. But then you just make a simple generic thing about technology and culture... Can you be more specific of the topic?
Your statement sounds more of something that happens to everybody (technology/culture).
**off-topic**
Edit: When you said non-americans. Did you mean we have to have a privelage to speak in this? I find that completly unnesessary.
But yes, the constitution should be changed somewhat. It was made to be a self-correcting system. But under today's standards, like present time this instance you saw this post. I find it really hard to get anything done with our government, and the disaster that might occur...
**really-off-topic**
Will you people stop changing your AVATARS... Took me like 10 minutes to realize ~Void~ made this. :P

What I meant was that some people might get annoyed that I'm making a topic that is directed mainly at Americans, and that non-Americans' opinions on this subject will be just as valid as an American's opinion.

The Constitution is but a small base for the huge wall that is law. Sure, whatever it says goes, but it's not like it covers such a large amount of things that it needs to be updated on a frequent basis. Furthermore, it does its job well in filtering out unreasonable laws. In my opinion, it'll be quite a while before we find something reasonably outdated that an amendment couldn't solve.

I can't say that "40%" or "60%" or how much of the US constitution must be rewritten to fit modern-day society.
It must be all revised, and then rewritten. Also, not only US, but the other countries aswell.

A single person won't rewrite it, but a group of people...

Never heard of anything in the consitition being dictated by one person. It's a vote cast system, that everyone votes for.
"The people wont be satisfied with anyone who writes it." What do you mean? If it makes me happy, then I'm happy.

Besides, if even you wanted it to be changed. (It's extremely hard anyways)... If the population dosen't get upset. The government is just going to sit on the asses, and get fat and happy. Since many-many-many-alot-shitload things are not taken seriously. Things will stay the same as always, sure they will say "We will get a better education system!", "Global Warming", "War on Iraq". But they won't do shit... Besides their just up their for fame and cash. Most politicians don't give a rats ass about us. Call them professional Actors, most of their speech(s) is made by other people. Random stuff to think... (huge federal government, medicare fraud, trade fraud (china), government's pretty much corrupt to it's core-innercore, population dosen't care what happens, capitalism is dead in the U.S. (most american companies today, aren't american [A.k.a. - bought by other countries])...
let's just say in the next few years. Something really bad like a reccession, but worse, horrible-horrible worse will come...

The Constitution helps to regulate the amount of power the government has, which I think is great.
Also, parts of it ARE being abused, as an example, the 'Right to bear arms' equates to no gun control.

That's what I mean. People don't change things like the right to bear arms because they're in the constitution... but it just doesn't make sense anymore.

Yes, that part applies to when America was under constant threat during it's founding and needed an active militia. It's no longer relevant at all.

Many stuff of the U.S.A. is dead... Our economic powerhold is basically dead. Our corruption has gone so far, might as well wait till we "completly" get rid of our military + nukes... If that happens, the world will just probally nuke us.
