Sc2 = Wc3 modding's death?
Do you think that with the arrival of Sc2 and its editor (called ScumEdit) and perhaps WoW: WotlK; Wc3 aged, agonizing modding communities will become so obsolete they will be... (completely) abandoned?

Personally, I think I might like the WC3 editor better, but you never know until you try..

I sure will begin make maps to SC2.. Cuz, I'm getting tired of the wc3 world. I need something new, but with the same good(or even better) editor.
Zergling Max and Rex, here I come!

They're different. One is sci-fi, the other pure fantasy, meaning they have very different game options aesthetically.
I bet most people will move to Sc2, but both games will retain a healthy modding community (heck, even Sc1 still does)

I'll move to SC2 after completing my 1 planned campaign (Which is my last planned maps for WC3) (It's not even in the works now....)

Im gonna move onto sc2 modding when it comes out. if the jump from warcraft to starcraft II is anything like the jump from starcraft to warcraft was, everyone will have to! warcraft III added so much to modding, if starcraft 2 adds half as much as wc3 did then it will be well worth the move (who knows, maybe we'll even get a skin or model editor built into the modding tools?)

I agree with NovaBlade, Blizzard isn't retarded, they won't ruin modding, I'm pretty sure they realise that modding is what puts them ahead of a lot of other games. They can see an example with DotA, it sells copies of WC3 alone.

The fact that SC2 is sci-fi will probably keep a lot of stubborn people here, but for the most part I think we'll see the same shift from SC-> Wc3 for Wc3->SC2.
Personally, Starcraft was my first RTS and it's really one of the few sci-fi games I actually enjoyed. Sensible modders will realize this is a huge upgrade for them and embrace it with open arms.

Fantasy and Scifi are two entirely different worlds. I like both in their own ways and I won't leave Warcraft III no matter what. Personally I think creating a scifi story or something should be more harder than fantasy. There's something that can't be done in fantasy and something that can't be done in Scifi so these games won't destroy each other. With the amazing game DotA there should be a lot of activity in b.net still after Starcraft II. It's a new game and will be waiting for its hit maps.
And also another note is that all people won't have computers that could run Starcraft II smoothly.

But you forget to note that even with an old game like Warcraft 3 people still can't run it smoothly some times. (Also be carefull when saying that DotA is amazing you might be killed...)
