The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Ah Oblivion... you find ways to suck away my time even more than any MMO.
Bethesda once again pleases us with yet another installment in the Elder Scrolls series. If you liked Morrowind, Oblivion will leave you in awe and yearning for more.
Oblivion throws you into the role of a character you created yourself. You find yourself in Cryodiil as a prisoner. The game starts off with three guards, guarding the Emperor Uriel Septim (Voiced by Patrick Stewart A.K.A. Captain Picard.)
After a secret passage, you must follow the Emperor and his guards through an ancient passage. I will not explain the events in these passages as it would be a large spoiler.
After the ancient passages, you still have to go through the sewers, which can be cleared in less than 5 minutes.
After that, you're free. Free to do whatever you want. Don't want to go on the Main Quest just yet? Go ahead. Want to become a professional Assassin? Sure. Want to be a Robin Hood like figure? Knock yourself out. Want to be a vampire? Go crazy. The range of Freedom in Oblivion rivals, if not outdoes GTA's freedom. There is practically NOTHING you can't do in this game. And if you have it for the PC, a few mods can always spice it up. (I myself am currently using a mod that gives Frostmourne as a weapon. :P )
But even then, it's not PC only. 360 and PS3 owners can have the game too, though they be unable to use mods.
The graphics for this game are excellently done. The landcaping is beautiful and makes you actually feel like you are where it says you are.
The amount of quests is also awe-inspiring, aside from the Main quest and Guild quests. There are plenty of side-quests to keep you busy. From clearing out a cave of Goblins to putting a corrupt officer behind bars. You will find time flying by while playing this game.
The music and sounds for this game are also nicely done. The voice acting could use a little touching up. Not that the voices weren't well done, they actually did pretty good. I would've just liked to see a bit more variety in the voices, instead of hearing the exact same voice for different people.
The AI is brilliant yet stupid at the same time. The AI will follow certain schedules (Example: An elf's AI will actually go to bed at night, eat at a certain time, visit certain places at certain times etc.) They will also follow precedures to protect themselves. So, how are they stupid? They're incredibly easy to fool. I've shot someone with a bow in plain sight of the guards, yet instead of trying to arrest me, they killed the victim.
As for the spells? They do what you'd think, summon minions, kill people. And some unusual ones. Like Frenzy. Cast it on someone, and everyone in a certain range of the target will go into a rage, and attack anyone in sight, perfect for turning a horde of enemies against each other, or a good stress reliever.
So, what's the con of this game? No Multiplayer. But, this con really only applies to Multiplayer fanatics. If you don't mind a single player RPG, this won't really be a con.
Even after you complete the main story line, you've probably only completed about 3% of the game. You've still got all the dungeons, guilds, quests, everything really. You'll spend hundreds if not thousands of hours playing this game. And even if you do complete everything, you can always start up a new character and do it all over again in different ways.
If you can't have it for PC. Get it for 360 or PS3, if you have either of those. For any die-hard RPG fan. This game is an absolute must have. And even to the Average gamer, this is something you won't regret getting. Don't even bother renting the game. Just buy it, you won't regret it, that is if you like RPGs in any way.
Gameplay: 10
Concept: 10
Graphics: 10
Sounds: 10
Music: 10
Voice Acting: 9 (Needs more variety)
Final score: 9.8
System most recommended for: PC (If your machine can handle it, if not, just get it for whatever system you have.)

The gameplay gets repetitive for me even though there is alot of simulation physics, just seems like you have too much on your plate and wont bother with it.
The concept is okay ,some things are new and fresh and unique, but its lost its rightful unique feel that morrowind truly had.
The graphics may be cool and flash and new, but I cant friggin tell shit from butter its all that detailed and either too dark in the dungeons or too much friggin bloom on the outdoors.
The sounds I didnt mind, was nice. Thats all i can say.
The music is alright, doesn't seem too epic or inspiring to me, I dont remember much of it but.
The voice acting....well I didnt hear a large variety when I played but Im sure there was alot more than I heard, it was okay and I found it great to have instead of reading nothing but boring text.
Iv only played Xbox one, not pc (im sure it would look horrid and lag). I dont it, it is cool and all, but its not something I would play over and over again, possibly since I prefer PC platform and I believe adding allittle multiplayer would give it a grand touch.

Doesn't MMO stand for Massively Multiplayable Online (RPG)? So is it Multiplayer or not? Seriously, what the heck?

Just because I said it can suck my time away more than any MMO does not mean it is an MMO. Infact, there is not really an implication.
Now if I had said "Ah Oblivion... you find ways to suck away my time even more than any other MMO." Then that would have implied that it was an MMO.

Ah, sorry then.
So it's a giant MMO-like world where you have tons of things to do, but it isn't an MMO in the sense you can only play by yourself?
Sounds a bit... off. Though it's obviously a quality game.

I find it great but for the quite limated spell system, where it does not really let you create your own spell types and have them craftable (allow you to make the spell ingame with a value that when increased costs more money yet makes the spell better).
Also the graphics seem to have some handicap on them for my computer that it never exceeds 15 fps (although it techinaclly could (no difference between min and near max settings)), probably something simple but still irritating.
Multiplayer would really have been good for that game, even if it was basic private server ownage with no administration capabilities, for RPers it would be great.
The levelup system I found a bit lame, it could have been a lot better.

Wellll, there is a way to get mods for the 360 and PS3, but it's not exactly legal.
And yes, it is legal for PC.

I can make my own spells if I wanted to, but I see no way how to make a fully high quality spell like the ones ingame and not a botched script emulated one that can not even be custom spell made like most ingame.

Oblivion is alright. Personally I like structured RPG's better than wide-open-do-whatever-the-hell-you-want kind of RPG's like Oblivion. I mean you get dropped into this massive world, you have very little purpose, so it's like what do I do next?
It's a good game, but as I stated above, I'd take a good linear RPG over it any day.

Oblivion is definately good game. You can almost do anything. It was very awesome to explore the game. Completing the main plot and the guild quests was funny.
Best computer RPG game ever.

No, not legally, Kaitech.
The only way I can think of is if they offered them through Xbox Live, which they probably do. Can anyone confirm this?
