well, ive actually collected a fine collection of models that follow a certain theme of steel clad legionnaires.
thats why i also asked if we could use a small amount of icons/units/buildings from a melee race.

what about, as someone said earlier, campaign stuff? those arent used in melee races but are still technically part of the race.

we could solve the problem of icons by allowing us to use screenshot icons. but that would be creating material that hasnt been submitted onto the website.

Ignoring your abuse of post size, my question was if we had to create a new melee map refering to terrain, creeps, gold mines, etc or we just open up some standart map like "Gnoll Woods" and edit it from there.

I don't see why it should be specially made for the contest map - just use ordinary melee map.

Yeah I think a ordinary melee map (why not gnoll forest?) would be the best.
I think it depends on your race and not the map youre using it in. Of course your race shouldn't have any advantage in one map!

Well it looks like the next mapping contest has been decided, and it wont be this. Though that doesn't mean we wont be having a Techtree contest in the near future.
