even the tiny details like little bumps in the leather part of his armoour or the fur on his boots were made PERFECT! That pic is PERFECT! I saved it on my computer. :3

I thought the same. But the first one has better, minute detail while the other one has shiny smooth armour. For model, I'd choose #1. For background, I'd choose #2. :P

You are over reacting. This contest hadn't pulled the skilled artists since the prize wasn't tempting enough. In the last great fan art contest, which offered financial prize, many talented artists participated. Thus, the works were superior by far.
