Bames' Anatomy
Masters of Anatomy
Color and Light by James Gurney
ImagineFX magazine | Creative Bloq

A few notes about the 3 books, since these cost a lot of cash here - it's not totally worth it for the so far listed books. For example, with Bames' anatomy there are many great things in it that you just HAVE to know like skeletal structure, muscles, etc. but most of the pages are useless and filled with unimportant to art text. Masters of Anatomy? Probably not worth the price but exploring many styles can really help in understanding anatomy and establishing your own style. Hopefully I'll get my hands on it someday. Color and Light is probably the best pick out of these but don't go for it unless you're quite good at fundamentals. It's for artists who know more about color and just want to further explore stuff (I got it too soon I suppose).

Hey nice list :D
I got some links you could add;

Daarken's tutorial page:
http://enliighten.com/

Pixelovely for some good references for practice:
http://artists.pixelovely.com/

Will Terrell is another good artist on youtube (he draws in a more cartoony style, but there is still much you can learn even if you're into more realistic art):

lastly, I'd like to mention ImagineFX which is a superb, monthly magazine. It is mainly sold in UK, but I found it in bookstores / newsagents in USA and Sweden. It comes quite pricey outside UK, but it is definitely worth the money in my opinion:

Another artist I'd like to recommend is Chris Oatley. He does not have a lot of videos, he have some though.

He is mainly doing podcasts/artcasts and they are more about how to approach art, interviews with other artists in the business, the industry of visual development/illustration/freelancing/concept art, time management etc. So maybe not as much as can help you skill-wise (still a lot of great tips every now and then that DO help a lot) but he is really fun and super-interesting to listen to. And you do get a lot of insight into the industry about how it works.

(Seeing as Matt Kohr is already mentioned here Chris actually interviews him in some episode)

Now, that's probably the most interesting to anyone looking to get into the professional side of art, but for any artist I can not recommend him enough.

The podcasts range from anywhere between like 40 min-2 hours, most are around 40-60 minutes though.

Link to one of his casts, with Noah Bradley, really interesting

Andrew Loomis' books are absolutely great, I think you can find them anywhere basically. Anyone interested in art should go through those books.

ImagineFX also has like a lot of different like, tutorialbooks, and they are all great, especially the anatomy ones. http://beta.imaginefx.com/shop
If you go there and just scroll down you'll find some of their special issues, there are more though, but you'll have to google for them yourself, I don't know their exact name. One for manga, one for fantasy art, one for monster/sci-fi I think.

Hey, nobody found any good tutorials :cgrin:?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haa7n3UGyDc I'd like to add Alan Becker's tutorials on the Principles of Animation. Understanding 2d animation is important for static images as well.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjxPOyTaS0Q Carbot. While his tutorials aren't the best and aren't even on a separate channel I find him to explain things simply and make them easy to memorize.

edit: I wasn't sure if this counts as Necro posting? Does it? Eh, I don't care. Worth the infraciton :cgrin:
